Frequently Asked Questions

We require 48 hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling for parties of 5 or less, 72 hours for groups of 6-11, and 1 week for groups larger than 12. No refunds will be honored within these hours of departure, no exceptions. We shuttle you as high as we can but have to consider your safety and trail conditions. Please keep this in mind if we cannot get you to the top.

We depart from a vacant lot that sits just below the highway, containing a billboard that rises above it. From Poison Spider: head north, you will pass under a lighted pedestrian crosswalk, the first entrance is located at the end of the corrugated rusted metal fence on your left. If coming from the north the billboard will read “Please keep your speed down while enjoying our town”. Our vans are often in the lot, unless we are returning from an earlier shuttle. Please note, use the restroom before arrival, there are no restrooms at the departure lot.

Shuttle times vary throughout the year based on temperature and destination. If you have a date in mind click “book your shuttle” the calendar will show you time and availability.

No, Whole Enchilada and Moab Brands have a paved bike path that returns you to our lot. Mag 7 riders have the option to drop a vehicle at the end. Raptor Route returns to town via Sand Flats Rd. and Moab city streets.

E-bikes are NOT allowed on designated non-motorized mountain bike trails. All trails we service are non-motorized trails. Therefore, we are restricted by our permits with the federal agencies from transporting E-Bikes, even if the battery has been removed. Please respect this policy and leave your e-bike at home, we cannot carry it and you will not get a refund. For more information on E-Bikes in Moab visit https://www.discovermoab.com/ebikes/

While not required, tips are greatly appreciated. If your driver took care of your bike, answered your questions, provided advice, or just made you laugh, please consider giving them a tip. If you tipped upon booking, your tip will make it to your driver.

Yes, If the minimum is not met, we will try to find you a seat in another shuttle, if available. If this is the case, we will reach out by 5pm the day before to notify you of your alternative shuttle option or cancellation.

Sometimes it is necessary to cancel shuttles due to weather for your safety and/or the health of the trails. This is often a morning of decision, you will receive a text message (US & CA) as soon as we make the call informing you of the cancellation and an email will be sent out. In the event that we must cancel, we will do our best to get you on a later shuttle should you choose, otherwise you will receive a full refund.

While a majority of them do, not all of them do. Do not count on it and make sure you go before you arrive at the shuttle.

NO, vehicles may only be parked in the Whole Enchilada lot while on your ride.

Yes, it happens, but not always. You are more than welcome to show up for your desired shuttle and let the driver know you are looking for a no-show spot if available. Make sure you bring cash to pay for your shuttle.

No, we are solely a transportation service. If you would like a guide, email us and we can recommend one to you.

We do not rent bikes though we work with Poison Spider Bicycles and recommend them for rentals, service, and all other bike retail needs.

On most trails, you will receive intermittent cell service.

Grand County Search and Rescue recommends taking a cell phone – “Even though cell service is a hit-and-miss proposition in this area, cell phones have helped GCSAR save numerous lives. Make sure your battery is fully charged and leave the phone off unless absolutely necessary. If you call 911, we should automatically get coordinates for your location if you stay on the phone for about a minute. Sometimes, texting can work in areas where voice service does not. If you are unable to connect via 911, try texting a friend to call 911. Cell phones usually work if you are up on a mesa, but do not work well down in the canyons.” 911 texts can be sent with as little as 8% battery.

911 should be called immediately for any major medical or trauma emergency. Consider carrying a basic first aid kit. Otherwise make your way to the nearest trail exit and send someone to get a vehicle, hitch a ride, or call a friend to pick you up. For liability reasons we cannot rescue riders. Ride dirt, not mud! Amasa Back/Captain Ahab, Slick Rock, North Klondike. Trails primarily on rock or sand, with little dirt, are your best option when it is wet.

We always shuttle to the highest accessible trailhead conditions allow.

In the spring we start low and move up to higher trailheads as the snow melts till we reach Burro, then reverse as the snow starts falling. Per the USFS we cannot go to Burro Pass before July 1, in most years we can go to Burro Pass on July 1. We will always go to Burro if we can.

The year looks a little like this:

March: Porcupine & LPS → April: LPS & UPS → May: UPS & Kokopelli → Late May/June: Hazard County → July: Burro Pass

Fall is the optimum time to ride the entire Whole Enchilada as temperatures have dropped to manageable levels and the leaves are turning.

No, each trailhead is accessed a different way, we do not pass any lower trailheads on our way to higher trailheads. In fact, the mileage from Burro TH to Hazard TH, is greater than the mileage from our lot in town to either Burro or Hazard.

Length of time is dependent on many variables including but not limited to; beginning trailhead, rider ability, group size, number of stops, mechanical issues, and more. From Burro Pass it takes the average rider 4-6 hours to complete the entire Whole Enchilada.

While the trail systems are pretty straight forward, and Moab Trail Mix has done a great job of placing maps at most all trail intersections, due to the remote nature of the trail, we advise carrying a map, a GPS device, or a smartphone with a trail map app is advisable. The 4 exit points for the Whole Enchilada are marked, should riders need them, and the upper Whole Enchilada is marked with “WE”.

No, riders must carry all their water. It’s recommended to bring at least 3 liters (about 100 ounces) of water. The trail is long and challenging, and the desert environment can be hot and dry, increasing the risk of dehydration. It’s always better to have more water than you think you’ll need, so consider carrying an extra liter if possible, especially if it’s a particularly hot day or if you tend to consume a lot of water. Additionally, bringing some electrolyte tablets or drinks can help maintain your hydration levels.

Pro Tip: Carry a water bottle on your bike and fill it with your favorite hydration supplement.

If you run out of water before you get back to town, Matrimony Springs, a natural spring, is located along the bike path, opposite hwy 128 (River Rd.) just before you get to the Moab bridge and Hwy 191 (Main St.).

You should take the Raptor Route if…

  • You are looking for a fabulous, fun, flowing singletrack!
  • You are not feeling the very technical, remote Porcupine Rim.
  • You are having technical issues with your bike.
  • You are feeling tired from what you have already ridden.
  • You are out, or nearly out of water.
  • You are struggling with the heat.

Yes, there are 4 exit points located along The Whole Enchilada as well as The Raptor Route, an alternate ending to Porcupine. Riders should familiarize themselves with these exits, in the event one is needed. The top of the Porcupine 4×4 road is the last bailout before riders begin accessing remote areas. The average porcupine rescue is 8 hours. Riders now have the option of an alternative finish to the Whole Enchilada before committing to Porcupine. Sand Flats Road is the road used to exit on the Whole Enchilada. It is a downhill trending gravel road, if you are able to ride your bike or even coast, it may take time, but you can get out pretty easily. If you are unable to ride due to injury or mechanical issues, stay where you are and send a member of your party to get a vehicle to retrieve you. We do not offer pickups.

Yes, we also offer special events and wedding shuttles, and coming soon, shuttles for the San Juan Hut system and the Kokopelli Trail. Send us an email for more information.
